As for the title of the post, it's the last time the shuttle will be on top of it's dedicated 747. I believe it's going to one of the museums in the DC area. I should have looked it up before writing this post, but I didn't.... sorry. By the way, this was taken at Dulles Airport last night. We just arrived from New Orleans and after we parked at the gate I noticed the passengers gathered by the jetway door. As I was getting off the plane I discovered what they were looking at. What you can't see in this photo is the big crane used to lift the shuttle on and off the 747. It's off to the right of the frame.

First for me, last for it.
OK so the shot is not the greatest but as you can imagine, I couldn't get much closer. Two firsts for me here. The first first.....(hmmm) it's the first time using my Canon G12, at night, at 3200 ISO, shutter priority, and shooting RAW with a point and shoot. The second first..... (hmmm again), it's my first time seeing the space shuttle up close (kind of) and personal.
